South mountain state park. South Mountains State Park is located about 18 miles south of Morganton. Take SR 1913 to Old NC 18 43 miles and turn left. Great scenery many historic sites and friendly staff.
- 15 miles on right. Check-in at South Mountains State Park is 100pm and check-out is at 1200pm. This heritage can still be seen in the preserved stone and timber outside of the renovated bathhouse now known as the Park Center.
Headwaters of high quality streams. They have an exhibit room showing the trees plants and animals native to the area. South Mountains State Park offers miles of untamed terrain for you to explore during your stay including an impressive 80-foot waterfall.
South Mountains State Park features elevations to 3000 feet an 80-foot waterfall mountain streams and more than 40 miles of trails for hikers equestrians and mountain bikers. Take SR 1913 to Old NC 18 and turn left. Part of the Blue Ridge Mountain Range South Mountain separates the Hagerstown and Cumberland valleys.
Activities include equestrian camping primitive camping trout fishing mountain biking picnicking and hiking. Inside the center features historical exhibits and a classroom to teach young. Paris Mountain State Park s roots date as far back as the Great Depression when it was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
From I-40 Exit 105 Take NC 18 South 11 miles Turn Right onto Sugarloaf Rd. Some parks can accommodate early check-in or late check-out depending on the reservation schedule and site availability. - 45 miles Turn left onto Old 18 South - 3 miles Turn right onto Wards Gap Rd.
