The First Flatirons Trail Sequence.
Flatiron trail. The popular Third Flatiron which offers even more routes is usually closed to climbers and hikers from early February to late July to protect nesting raptors. Heres the basic set of trails Id recommend just because its the most direct approach. Flatirons Vista South completes the south portion of the Flatirons Vista loop.

It is a beautiful hike through open meadows pine forest rock falls and valley floor. The trail begins on a wide graded path through open space past connections for the Ski Jump 2 miles and Bluebell Mesa 3 miles trails to the Bluebell-Baird Trail junction 6 miles. Siphon Draw Trail begins in Lost Dutchman State Park.
4800 at Rainbow Ridge Trail Ends. The FirstSecond Flatiron Trail is accessed from the Chautauqua Trailhead. This loop encapsulates multiple different trails all accessible from the Chautauqua TrailStart by heading up the wide paved Chautauqua Trail and continue following it as it turns right and passes over a small bridge.
The western part of the trail is rocky and goes through ponderosa pine forest. Theres a small stream that runs down from the lake below Flatiron which will be on your left. At the intersection with the Bluebell-Baird Trail and Flatirons Loop Trail head to the left and uphill.
